ADW receives grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts Funding will support Santa’s Workshop

Alabama Dance Works receives grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. Funding will support Santa’s Workshop: School’s in Session


Dothan, Ala. – Alabama Dance Works has received a $8,300 grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to fund their annual holiday production, Santa’s Workshop: School’s in Session, at the Dothan Civic Center December 2nd-4th, 2021.


With these funds, Alabama Dance Works will produce Santa’s Workshop: School’s in Session at the Dothan Civic Center December 2nd- 4th. ADW is also hosting two performances for the students of the Wiregrass the mornings of December 2nd and 3rd. These school shows are discounted to the schools of our area so they can have access to quality dance performances. ADW’s mission is to is to transform the lives of our students and audiences through high quality education, performances, and community engagement. This grant signifies that through this project, Alabama Dance Works is making Alabama’s communities stronger and our state’s arts and culture sector more vibrant.

Santa’s Workshop is an original show in its 14th season and has become a family tradition for the Wiregrass community. This year, Santa’s Workshop: School’s in Session is taking on a different look! The students of North Pole Academy must make sure their grades are in tip top shape to graduate to North Pole Elf status. Only then can they truly do their part in spreading the magic of Christmas to the world. 70 children from the Wiregrass are performing alongside the Alabama Dance Works professional company in this year’s production. The show times are Thursday, December 2nd at 6:30 pm, Friday December 3rd at 6:30 pm, and Saturday, December 4th at 1:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Dothan Civic Center box office HERE.


This grant, awarded by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, is made possible through funding from an annual appropriation from the Alabama State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. This public support enables Alabama Dance Works to reach new audiences, foster community development, provide the highest quality programming, and demonstrate the importance of arts as a key component for quality of life in Alabama.
